Following completion of the classes, a "membership service" will be held during worship in which prospective members are asked to exchange membership vows with the congregation. CLASSIFICATIONS OF MEMBERSHIP Baptized Member: Baptism is the sacrament of initiation and incorporation into the body of Christ. An infant, child, or adult who is baptized becomes a member of the catholic (universal) church of the denomination. United Methodists recognize the baptism of all Christian churches; therefore, "re-baptism" is not' practiced.. Confirmed Member: A confirmed member is any person (at least 6th grade in school) who has been baptized and has completed the orientation/confirmation class with the pastor. Transfer Member: Persons who are members of another congregation can request a transfer of membership to Churubusco United Methodist Church. After the request is expressed, a letter will be sent by the church office, requesting the transfer. During a "membership service", you will be asked to complete the vows of membership.
