Greetings in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ!  My name is Kevin Hege and I am Director of Music Ministries at the Churubusco United Methodist Church.  It is my pleasure to help you become aware of all the musical opportunities available for you here.

I believe that no matter what your musical interest, you will find something that appeals to you at Churubusco UMC.  I do look forward to meeting with you and discussing your musical talents and how we can make you a part of our growing music ministry.

Our Music Spectacular Event each year is the "Hanging of the Greens" held between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  This event begins the Advent Season with a pageant of music and readings.  Many vocalists, instrumentalists, and volunteers are always needed and welcomed.  Each October, more information is made available.

Chancel Choir ministers at the 8:15 am Traditional Service every Sunday from September through May.  Rehearsal is on Wednesdays from 7-8 pm in the sanctuary and at 7:55 am on Sunday mornings in our choir room.  We welcome new members (middle school and older) in all voices -- soprano, alto, tenor, bass -- at any time through the choir year.  Auditions are not required -- only a love for God and a sense of pitch.

Adult Praise Team rehearses from 9:30-10:15 am on Sunday mornings and leads worship at the 10:30 am Contemporary Service.  This group meets continuously throughout the year, and you are welcome to participate as your schedule permits.  Our "hot little band" has a current opening for a lead guitarist and/or saxophone player.  We also have a Kurzweil K2500 synthesizer calling your name.  To schedule an audition, call the church office.

Women's Vocal Ensemble currently meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, immediately following the Chancel Choir rehearsal, from January through May.  This group performs special music in the Traditional Service during the spring and early summer.  An audition or reference may be required.

Youth Praise Band meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays, immediately after the Chancel Choir rehearsal, from January through May.  This group is open to all Middle School and Senior High students who want to learn to lead worship with music.  We perform at contemporary youth services and special music during the spring and early summer.  Auditions are not required.

New in January 2008 is our Guitar Ensemble which meets informally.  Children's Choirs also meet informally throughout the school year as requested and sing at various youth services. We do have all the equipment necessary to begin a bell choir -- all we need is you.

If you are interested in a shorter commitment, "Hanging of the Greens" Choir, which performs our Christmas program in early December, may be for you.  This choir meets during the months of October and November on Wednesdays immediately following the Chancel Choir rehearsals.  Another shorter commitment is the Easter Cantata with rehearsals from mid February to late May.

All vocalists and instrumentalists with a heart for God are welcome at any time during the year to also provide special music solos at either service whenever appropriate.  An audition or reference may be required.
